Roland-Story topped Woodward-Granger to claim the title at the Perry Tournament Tuesday.
The Norsemen won the first game of the title match, 25-22, with the Hawks rallying for a 25-20 win in game two. R-S grabbed first place at the event with a 15-10 win the third and deciding game of the title match.
W-G was strong at the net during its run at the tourney, with Abby Hansen and Olivia McCune making five blocks apiece while Mary Hansen added four blocks, Dalaney Bice three blocks and Bree Lesch one.
Abby Musser finished with 22 kills while Abby Hansen and McCune had 12 kills apiece. Mary Hansen had seven kills and Lesch four, with Maggie Bermel providing 26 assists and Mary Hansen 24.
Musser led the team with 18 digs, with Lesch contributing 11 digs, Tori Manning eight, Bermel six and McCune five.
The Hawks (17-14) were led in serving by Manning (24-25-4) and Lesch (23-25-3). McCune was 20-20-1, Bermel 17-19-4 and Mary Hansen 14-17-3 behind the line, with Musser 9-14-4 and Rachel Spinler 14-15-1.
A 3-1 win over Earlham Monday secured at least a second-place finish in the West Central Conference for the Woodward-Granger volleyball team.
The Hawks were off-kilter in their first game as the Cardinals pounced on their hosts for a 25-8 win. W-G responded with a 25-18 win in game two before holding on for a 25-22 win game three. A 25-21 victory in game four secured the match win.
Musser had 13 kills to pace the offense, with McCune and Mary Hansen adding nine kills apiece while Abby Hansen had seven kills, Lesch four and Cailin Coker three. Bermel helped set the attack with 25 assists, with Mary Hansen adding 12 assists.
Manning had 13 digs, Musser 12 and Lesch five, with McCune recording three blocks and Lesch and Abby Hansen one each.
Mary Hansen had four aces on 14-of-15 serving, with Musser 12-15-4 and Bermel 17-17-1 while Lesch was 11-12-2, McCune 10-11-2 and Manning 11-of-11 behind the line.
W-G hosts the Hawk Invitational Saturday and will then open postseason play Oct. 22 when the team hosts Madrid in a Class 2A Region 5 opener.
