Hawks travel for Greene County Early Bird

Just like other track teams in the area, the Woodward-Granger boys’ and girls’ track teams finally got outside for the first outdoor track meet of the year at the Greene County Early Bird Classic in Jefferson on Monday.

The Hawks won two events throughout the course of the event, which was ultimately cut short due to windy conditions. Abby Musser took first place in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 16.26 and also took second in the girls 100 meter dash with a time of 13.56, which was just 0.02 seconds behind the leader.

The Hawk boys 4x800 meter relay team took first place with a time of 9:21.90, which was 0.50 seconds ahead of Manson-North Webster who finished in second place.

W-G’s Marshall Nieland took third place in the 400 meter dash finishing in 56.07 while Johnnie Morgan finished in fifth place in the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:27.44. Derick Morgan got fifth place in the 3200 meter run with a time of 11:38.60.

The Hawk boys 4x200 meter relay team got third place, finishing the race in 1:42.56. Jake Kooiker finished in fifth place in the boys high jump with a height of 5-06.

W-G’s Josie Baumgartner got fifth place in the girls 400 meter dash with a time of 1:18.20 while Regan Kauffman got fourth in the 800 meter run, finishing in 2:59.40.

In the girls 3000 meter run, Ashton Grover-Faust got fifth place with a time of 15:03.49 and Woodward-Granger got fourth place in the girls distance medley.

The Woodward-Granger track teams return to action on April 7 at Panorama.
