Dallas Center-Grimes came away with nine all-district selections following a perfect run through Class 3A District 4 this season.
Chosen were defensive linemen Austin Grosklags and Brevin Townsell, linebacker Jack Kelly, defensive backs Jack Jorgensen and Austin Kloewer, kicker Michael Lortz, quarterback Andrew Kramer, running back Chaz Chambers and tight end Dakota Clausen.
Grosklags (51 tackles, seven sacks) and Townsell (51 tackles, two sacks) spearheaded a strong rushing defense, while Kelly led the Mustangs with 83 tackles. Kloewer had 80 tackles and a team-high five interceptions, while Jorgensen added 64 tackles and two picks for a defense that recorded six shutouts.
Kramer completed 53.1 percent (111-of-209) of his pass attempts for 1,391 yards and 17 touchdowns, and also ran for 603 yards and 14 scores. Chambers was the team’s leading rusher with 929 yards and seven touchdowns despite missing the first two games of the season due to injury. Clausen was the team’s leading receiver, with 33 catches for 538 yards and six touchdowns.
Justin Gardner, Carson Namanny, Jacob Protzman and Chris On were honorable mentions, and coach Scott Heitland was named the district’s coach of the year.
DC-G finished the year 9-2 and won the district championship with a perfect 6-0 mark.
