Dallas Center-Grimes crowned two champions and placed third at the Bill Van Horn Invitational in Pella on Dec. 21.
Trevor Murano won the 120-pound title, improving to 16-0 in the process, while 170-pounder Blake Wolinski grabbed an individual title while jumping to 15-2.
Murano received a first-round bye, won a 10-2 major decision in the semifinal and pinned Skyler DeJong of Oskaloosa in the championship bout. Wolinski recorded three wins, including a 1:36 pin of South Tama’s Trent Thomas in the first round and a 12-4 major decision in the final over Eddybille-Blakesburg’s Tyler Foubert.
Cole Baker (220), Dakota Clausen (182) and Drew Kearney (113) all finished second. Baker had two falls before a narrow 7-6 loss in the finale, while Clausen had a technical fall and major decision under his belt before a loss by fall in his final match.
Ben Carr (106), Logan Buck (160) and Bryce Shutt (285) all finished third in their classes. Nick Brushaber was fifth at 152, while Nick Duckett finished sixth at 145.
DC-G finished with 164 1/2 points, trailing only Albia (189) and Norwalk (173 1/2).
DC-G wrestles again on Jan. 4 at Pleasant Valley’s tournament. The Mustangs (8-5) return to dual-meet action Jan. 9 at A-D-M.
