Mustangs win three-straight games ahead of districts

The Dallas Center-Grimes baseball team went into their regular-season finale against A-D-M on Wednesday with three-straight wins under their belt. The score of the Mustangs’ game against the Tigers was not available before the Dallas County News went to press.
On July 12, the Mustangs swept Oskaloosa in a double header in Dallas Center by scores of 3-0 and 2-1. On Monday night they won at Ballard by a score of 8-1.
A 5-run fifth inning helped propell the Mustangs to the big victory in Huxley on Monday night. Tyler Pierson went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored.
Jacob Mueller had two RBIs and Nate Osborn got the win on the mound for the Mustangs.
Osborn scored two runs in game one of the double header against Oskaloosa on July 12 as the Mustangs went on to win 3-0. Cole Baker struck out nine batters and gave up just three hits in the shutout win.
Game two went to 10 innings, where the Mustangs scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning. Austin Kloewer, a pinch runner for Cole Baker, and Justin Carlyle each scored one run in the game.
Osborn pitched the 10th inning and got credit for the win.
The Mustangs will open up district play against A-D-M on Friday night in Adel at 7 p.m.
