On May 12, the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union released pairings for the girls’ soccer regional tournaments where the teams will compete for a chance to reach the state tournament.
In Class 2A, Adel-DeSoto-Minburn and Dallas Center-Grimes will both be in Region 3 with a chance of playing each other in the regional finals with the winner advancing to the state tournament. They each have a first-round bye.
The Fillies will play the winner of the game between Perry and Des Moines North in Grimes on June 6 while the Tigers will play the winner of the game between Des Moines Hoover and Nodaway Valley in Adel on June 6. The Region 3 final game is on June 9 at 6 p.m. in Grimes.
The last time they played, the Fillies erased a 1-0 Tiger lead and won 2-1, ruining A-D-M’s perfect season record.
Waukee was played in Class 3A’s Region 4. They will play in the first round against Marshalltown on June 4 in Waukee at 6 p.m.
If they win, they will play the winner of the first-round matchup between Southeast Polk and Urbandale in the regional finals for a chance to advance to the state tournament. The Region 4 final will be in Waukee at 6 p.m. on June 9.
The Warriors do not play Marshalltown in the regular season this year and will not play Southeast Polk until the regular season finale. They beat Urbandale 2-1 in a shootout back on April 11, the second game of the season for the Warriors.
The state tournament will run from June 12-14 at Cownie Stadium in Des Moines.
