The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn and Dallas Center-Grimes boys’ and girls’ track teams competed at the state qualfying meet in Grimes on May 15. As a result of their performances, the Tigers are sending six boys teams and individuals and 12 girls teams and individuals to the state meet while DC-G is sending 10 Mustang teams and individuals and 14 Fillie teams and individuals to the state meet.
Grant Goeden will be representing the Tigers in the 100 meter dash while Kyle Hovey will compete in the 1600 meter run at state. Tate Jensen, who qualified for the Drake Relays in both events, will represent the Tigers in the 110 meter hurdles and the 400 meter hurdles at state.
The Tigers’ distance medley relay team qualified to compete at state while Jesse Bennett of A-D-M qualified in the shot put.
Kari Dufoe and Madi Bertman finished first and second at the state qualifying meet in Grimes and have both qualified for the 100 meter dash at the state meet. Dufoe also qualified for the 200 meter dash while Brianna Mueller qualified for the 800 meter run and Brennan Hook qualified for the 3000 meter run.
The Tigers qualified for six relay races, including the 4x100 meter, the 4x200, the 4x400, the 4x800, the sprint medley and the distance medley relays. In field events, Madi Bertman qualified for the long jump for the Tigers.
For the regional hosts, Jack Jorgenson and Chaz Chambers qualified for the 200 meter dash while Callen Bertrand qualified for the 400 meter dash. The Mustangs qualified for five relay races, including the 4x100 meter, the 4x200 meter relay, the 4x400, the 4x800 and the distance medley relay.
In field events, the Mustangs will be represented by Reese Iversen in the high jump and Trey Washington in the long jump.
For the Fillies, Madison Waymire qualified for the 800 meter run, the 1500 meter run and the 3000 meter run while Sydnee Hendricks qualified for the 1500 meter run as well. Olivia Weaver and Maci Masching both qualified for the 100 meter hurdles.
The Fillies qualified for six relay races. For field events, Stephanie McMillan and Tatum Jorgensen qualified for the high jump.
The state track meet begins this Thursday, with 3A action for the Tigers, Mustangs and Fillies beginning at 2:40 p.m. at Drake Stadium in Des Moines.
