Tigers stymied by Lewis Central

Jake Hutzell’s 49-yard field goal was the only scoring for A-D-M in a 13-3 loss to Lewis Central on Sept. 27 in Council Bluffs.

The kick was the longest in Class 3A this season and tied for fifth in the state through the season’s first five weeks.

Kolby Whisner was 15-of-32 passing for 211 yards and one interception. Tate Jensen caught seven passes for 98 yards, and Grant Goeden had six catches for 69 yards.

The Tigers were held to just 46 rushing yards on 25 attempts, including a 40-yard effort by Goeden.

Isaac Norton led the defense with 11 tackles. Jensen added 10 and Robby Sloss added eight. Jaxon Sloan intercepted a pass and Darold Baker recovered a fumble.

A-D-M fell to 2-1 in Class 3A District 1 play, while Lewis Central improved to 2-0 after starting the season with three non-district losses.

The Tigers return to Adel this Friday for a homecoming matchup with Atlantic. After a 7-3 win over Clarinda to start the year, the Trojans have lost four straight and have socred just five touchdowns.
