Tigers turned away at Indianola tournament

The Tigers were turned away by Urbandale and Gilbert at Indianola’s tournament on June 22.

The J-Hawks beat A-D-M 12-5, and Gilbert prevailed 4-1. A-D-M took a 3-0 lead after the first inning, but Urbandale scored nine over the next three innings to take control. Gabbie Glenn was 2-for-2 with three RBIs, Jessica Wyant had three hits and Molly Jacobsen two, while both Kate Collins and Taylor Boorn drove in runs. The Tigers were held hitless against Gilbert. Jacobsen walked and scored in the sixth inning for the team’s lone run.

A-D-M suffered a pair of close setbacks, falling to Boone 4-3 on the road June 19 and Norwalk 2-1 on June 20. The Tigers scored twice in the sixth inning against the Toreadors to send the game oto extra innings before Boone won in walk-off fashion in the bottom of the ninth inning. Lexi Wyant and Caitlyn Gruening had two-hit games, and Collins pitched all 8 2/3 innings, allowing three earned runs on 14 hits.

Norwalk scored once in the top of the seventh to escape with a narrow victory. Gruening and Kenzi Sutton each had two-hit games, and Collins pitched all seven innings, allowing two runs on seven hits and striking out one.
