Tigers unbeaten through three matches

When the preseason girls’ soccer rankings were released by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union on April 7, the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn girls’ soccer team was ranked No. 11. The Tigers’ (3-0) record remains unblemished and they have maintained that No. 11 ranking after their most recent win, a 5-0 blowout of Knoxville at home.

Through three games this season, the Tigers have yet to surrender a goal as they won 11-0 in the season opener on the road against Carroll and 3-0 against Des Moines Roosevelt at Cownie Soccer Park before the blowout win against Knoxville.

Senior goalkeeper Abby Daly made seven saves in the Tigers’ match against Knoxville and has stopped all 14 opponents’ shots on goal so far this season in 200 total game minutes.

Senior Caroline Maher led the way for the Tigers with two goals and one assist. Maher now leads the team with five goals on the season.

May Chelsea, also a senior thi season, had one goal and one assist in the win and is in a three-way tie for second on the team in goals, with three on the season. Also included in that three-way tie for second in scoring is Shannia Bartels and Emily Hofmann, who each scored their third goal of the season in the match against Knoxville.

The Tigers return to action on Thursday, Friday and Saturday when they host a tournament at A-D-M Stadium. The Tigers will play Bondurant-Farrar on Thursday, Des Moines Hoover on Friday and St. Albert Council Bluffs and Dallas Center-Grimes on Saturday.
