Van Meter girls rally to beat Tigers

Van Meter scored 28 points in the third quarter to post a 59-44 come-from-behind win on Tuesday at Guthrie Center.

C.J. Jones made three of her five 3-pointers in the decisive third frame, finishing with a game-high 15 points. Mackenzie Roberts added 11 points and Katie Agey finished with nine, as Van Meter improved to 9-3 on the season.

Agey scored 20 points, but Van Meter came up short at Winterset 50-41 on Jan. 4.

Roberts contributed 11 points and seven rebounds for the Bulldogs, while Nicole Meyer had 11 rebounds and Caroline Maher contributed six assists.

Van Meter trailed 28-16 at halftime and cut the deficit to six in the third quarter, but could pull no closer.

The Bulldogs also beat Ogden 58-39 on Jan. 3 in Van Meter. The hosts outscored their visitors 45-18 in the first half.

Roberts finished with 20 points, 12 rebounds, four assists and three steals. Agey recorded 13 points and five rebounds, Maher had eight points, five assists and five steals, and Abby Daly scored eight points. Jones added nine off the bench.
