The Van Meter softball team has found success over the course of the last week winning five of their last six games.
Seven Bulldogs drove in runs in the team’s 10-0 win against Guthrie Center on Monday.
Kila Carbine was 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and three RBIs, Bailey Richards went 3-for-4 and scored twice, and Ali Flaherty had two hits and two driven in. Leasha Porter, Nicole Meyer and Dion Shirley all had multi-hit games.
Carbine struck out six, allowing only one hit in the six-inning victory.
The Bulldogs (20-10) traveled to Urbandale for a game against Des Moines Christian on June 28 and came out with a 9-6 victory. Kendall Anderson pitched 6 2/3 innings and gave up five runs en route to getting the win.
Richards went 4-for-4, batted in four runs, scored one herself and had two stolen bases. Shirley went 1-for-3 and scored three runs.
The Bulldogs played a double header against Woodward-Granger on June 27, winning one and losing one. The Bulldogs won the first game in blowout fashion winning 15-0 but lost the second game 10-5.
In the first game Hope Connor led the way for the Bulldogs with four RBIs on a 3-for-3 effort at the plate. Leasha Porter had three RBIs and Anderson, Carbine and Richards had two RBIs apiece.
Shelby Tipling had three RBIs in the game and Porter had two RBIs. Carbine pitched three innings and gave up nine runs in the loss.
On June 26 the Bulldogs won a pair of games against Des Moines North in Van Meter. They won the first game 10-5 and followed that up by winning the second game 11-1.
In the first game Carbine picked up the win pitching all seven innings for the Bulldogs striking out six batters while giving up five runs. Anderson went 3-for-3 at the plate, had three RBIs and stole two bases.
In the second game Anderson picked up the win pitching four innings and givng up no runs. Carbine went 3-for-4 with three RBIs in the 11-1 victory.
