WOODWARD – Woodward-Granger High School will be hosting a six-week baseball camp, beginning Saturday, March 29.
Woodward-Granger Head Coach Eric Evans will direct the program in conjunction with U.S. Baseball Academy.
“This is a great opportunity to work on your skill set and to get back into the swing of things before the season starts,” commented Evans.
W-G senior Jacob Smiley organized the clinic and made arrangements for area high school coaches to help out.
Classes are available for players in first through 12th grade and are limited to six players per coach.
Sessions are offered in advanced hitting, pitching, catching, fielding and baserunning.
Proceeds from the program benefit amateur baseball in Woodward.
The Hawk baseball program is also gearing up for a baseball spring league that also begins on Saturday, March 29.
A spring baseball league in West Des Moines called the Des Moines Diamondback League will give the Hawk baseball team a chance to face off against some of the top squads in the Des Moines metro area.
“These games will hopefully get us playing against some good competition and will allow our guys to get some good quality reps in before the W-G high school season,” added Evans.
Woodward-Granger will be playing much larger schools in the league like Dowling Catholic, Des Moines Lincoln, Ottumwa, Southeast Polk, and West Des Moines Valley.
