Waukee accumulated 352 rushing yards in a 55-7 rout of Des Moines Roosevelt on Sept. 27.
Trevor Allen ran for 138 yards and three touchdowns, averaging 7.3 yards per carry. His brother, A.J. Allen, carried four times for 70 yards and two touchdowns.
Ben Ferkin, Pat Gray and Robert Primrose added rushing scores for the Warriors, who won their first Class 4A Division 4 contest and improved to 4-1 overall. Ferkin completed 8-of-16 passing attempts for 107 yards, with both Scott Stanley and Alex Sturm making three catches.
“We played a better game in terms of our offensive balance versus Roosevelt,” coach Scott Carlson said. “We had several targets to multiple receivers and had a solid offensive rhythm going, especially in the first half.
“We’re getting closer, but still need to continue to improve.”
The Warriors travel Friday to Pleasant Hill to face Southeast Polk. The Rams are 3-2 after a 51-13 win over Des Moines East last week.
“Southeast Polk is playing as well as anyone around right now in our part of the state,” Carlson said. “They are athletic and play a very physical style of ball.
“They will be ready and we will have to have a great team performance in all facets of the game if we expect to be successful on Friday.”
