Warriors sweep Fort Dodge, split with Lincoln

Waukee pushed across a run in the top of the ninth inning to prevail 4-3 in the first game of a doubleheader at Des Moines Lincoln on June 21.

Levi Schriener was 3-for-3 with a double and two runs scored, while Tyler Johnson went 2-for-5 with a double. Kylie Kubiak went six innings, allowing two runs on seven hits. Matt Corbett struck out four over the final three innings and got the win.

The Warriors were held to just one hit in a 3-2 loss in game two. Luke Fegen surrendered three runs on eight hits in six innings. Mick Price singled and drove in a run, and Kubiak also had an RBI.

Waukee swept Fort Dodge on June 19 with 6-2 and 6-3 victories. Sophomore Malik Moore went seven innings in game one, scattering six hits and striking out seven. Both runs were unearned.

Austin Battaglia’s two-run homer in the fourth put Waukee ahead 3-2. The Warriors tacked on three more in the sixth with RBI singles from Kuke Fegen and Jordan Niehaus sandwiched around a sacrfice fly from Johnson. Mick Price added a bases-loaded walk in the first inning.

Matt Hoeg and Colby Siebersma each drove in two runs in game two, while both Fegen and Niehaus finished with two hits. Addison Meyers surrendered nine hits and struck out two in the complete-game victory.
