The Waukee boys’ and girls’ tennis teams beat Johnston on Tuesday. The girls were on the road and won by a score of 8-3 while the boys were at home and dominated, winning 11-0.
Kayla Kuethe, Bri Young, Sara Wadle, Reilly Jacboson and Rachel Lienemann all won their singles matches. The Warrior girls also won three of the five doubles matches.
The boys dominated in every match they played against Johnston in Waukee. Alex Brown, Mac Delsol, Sandeep Yeturu, Austin Grossman, Peyton Parker and Tyler Kruzan all won their singles matches while the Warriors also won all of their doubles matches.
Girls v.s. Indianola
The Waukee girls’ tennis team got its season back on track on April 10, defeating Indianola 11-0 at home. This came after losing the season opener against West Des Moines Valley.
Kuethe, Young, Olivia Lacona, Wadle, Jacobson and Lienemann all won their singles matches to give the Warriors a 6-0 advantage after singles play concluded. Young and Wadle both won their matches 6-0, 6-0.
The Warriors also won all five of their doubles matches against Indianola. With the win, the Warriors pulled their record to 1-1.
At the tournament in Johnston on April 12, Kuethe took second place, going 4-1 on the day. The doubles pair of Lienemann and Tarina Alt went 5-1 on the day and got second place.
Both junior varsity doubles pairs got second place as well. Sydney Graham and Bridget Tunink went 4-2 on the day and Abbey Fouts and Alexi Alt went 5-1 on the day.
