The Waukee girls’ golf team has been crowned the Central Iowa Conference champions after winning the CIC girls’ golf meet in Mason City at Mason City Country Club on May 22. The Warriors shot 329 as a team.
The regional meet was on Tuesday and two Waukee girls qualified for the state meet at Marshalltown on June 2-3. They are Paige Seiser and Cheyanne Becker, as well as the Warriors qualifying for the team state tournament.
Waukee took first as a team at the regional meet at Grandview Golf Course in Des Moines shooting 327 as a team. Seiser shot 78 through 18 holes and was runner up at the meet while Becker shot 82.
At the CIC meet, Kelsy Shay was the runner-up, individually, shooting 78, three strokes behind Sydney Eaton of Mason City. Seiser of Waukee also shot 78.
Jasmine Wyzgowski shot 86 through 18 holes and Cheyanne Becker shot 87. Caitie Oder shot 89 and Kelsey Best rounded out the Warriors’ scoring with 92 through the round.
West Des Moines Valley took second at the meet with 339 strokes while Dowling Catholic got third, Johnston got fourth and Mason City rounded out the top five in fifth.
