The Waukee baseball team closed out the regular season with a big win over Marshalltown at home on Tuesday night. The Warriors won the game by a score of 11-1.
Before the game against Marshalltown, the Warriors went 3-1 in their two previous double headers at Ankeny Centennial on July 12. They swept Ankeny Centennial, winning 7-5 and 3-1, and then split with Ankeny, winning game one 8-7 and losing game two by a score of 7-2.
In game one against Ankeny Centennial, the game was tied 5-5 going into the top of the seventh when Waukee scored two more runs to take the 7-5 lead they won by. Luke Fegen went 4-for-5 at the plate with a double, two RBIs, a stolen base and a run scored.
Fegen led the way again in game two, going 3-for-4 at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases. Matt Mullenbach started the game at pitcher and got the win.
The Warriors open up district play against Council Bluffs, Abraham Lincoln in Waukee on Friday at 7 p.m.
