Merle Laswell - DCN Waukee had two varsity competitors and three junior varsity competitors participate in the long jump event.

The Warrior girls won nine varsity events at the Waukee Invitational that they hosted at Waukee Stadium on Tuesday. The 4x200 meter relay team of Gabi Gaines, Taylor Gates, Shaye Witte and Talia Buss even set a new meet record as they got first place in that event with a time of 1:45.50.

The Warriors also got first place in the 4x100 meter relay and the 4x400 meter relay while getting second in the 4x800 meter relay with a time of 10:03.01.

Waukee’s Caroline Slaughter won the shot put event with a throw of 37-01 while her teammate Erin Bramble came in second with a throw of 35-08.50. Bramble took first in the discus throw with a throw of 131-03 while Slaughter took fifth with a throw of 101-06.

Buss took first in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.20 and Gaines took first in the 200 meter dash, finishing in 26.70 seconds. Slaughter tied for third place in the 400 meter dash with a time of 64.20.

Rachel Brush took fifth place in the 1500 meter run with a time of 5:05.80 and fourth in the 3000 meter run with a time of 10:52.61.

Danielle Modrell and Hannah Shau finished second and third in the 100 meter hurdles as Modrell finished in 15.90 seconds and Schau finished 0.30 seconds behind her.

Erika Lewis won the 400 meter hurdles event with a time of 1:08.20 while Mary Kate Gray took third, finishing in 1:09.90.

The Warriors took third in the shuttle hurdle relay with a time of 1:12.55. The Warriors also took second in the sprint medley and distance medley, finishing the sprint medley in 1:56.80 and the distance medley with a time of 4:33.10.

The Waukee girls’ track team returns to action on Apri 10, once again at Waukee Stadium.
