It was cold and windy on May 1, so the Waukee boys’ track team postponed its meet until the next night and celebrated senior night at Waukee Stadium. Along with that, the Warriors stuck to their winning ways, winning eight events and scoring 220 team points and taking first place overall at the meet.
AJ Allen took first place in the 100 meter dash with a time of 22.35 seconds. Austin Krohnke ran the 1600 meter run in 4:24.58, which got him a first-place finish in the race. Pat Gray of Waukee rounded out the first-place finishes in the individual running events as he won the 400 meter hurdles, finishing with a time of 56.86 seconds.
In field events, Waukee’s Robert Primrose took first place in the long jump with a distance of 21-06.75 while Ross Reynolds took first place in the shot put throw with a throw of 54-0, and second place in the discus throw as well. The Warriors took first place in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:30.56, the 4x800 meter relay with a time of 8:21.73 and the shuttle hurdle relay with a time of 57.7 seconds.
Waukee took second plaec in the sprint medley relay, the 4x200 meter relay and the 4x100 meter relay.
Erik Nelson of Waukee got second place, right behind Reynolds in the shot put, Nathan Keck got second in the high jump while Andrew Cutler got third.
In the 3200 meter run, Waukee’s Henry Oberman took second place while Josh Brdicko and Jared Brdicko took second and third place in the 110 meter hurdles. Ross Vogel and Koy Schneiter got second and third in the 400 meter dash while Corbin Lowe took second in the 100 meter dash.
The Warriors’ next track meet is on Thursday as they host the CIML meet at Waukee Stadium, beginning at 3:30 p.m.
